Where the tag goes on your platform. Pick the tool your site is built with, or use the plain HTML steps that work on any website.

This page helps you find the steps for the tool your site is built with, and shows the plain version that works on any website. When you are done, your site sends its visits to Clear Saga.

Is your platform missing from the list? Use the plain HTML steps below. Any tool that lets you add code to the <head> of your pages can run the tag.

Other / plain HTML #

  1. Paste the tag inside <head> on every page, or in the template all your pages share.
  2. Publish, then open your site. The first visit shows up here within a few seconds.

<script
  defer
  data-site-key="YOUR_SITE_KEY"
  src="https://clearsaga.com/js/script.js"
></script>

The same on every platform #

Whatever your site is built with, the installation is one tag. These things hold for all of them:

  • There is nothing else to install. No plugin, no app and no package exists for any platform, and none is needed. The steps only differ in where the tag is pasted and how it is written.
  • The key is the only part that is yours. Most samples show the placeholder YOUR_SITE_KEY. A few read the key from a setting of the platform instead, and say so in their steps. Settings, Installation in the dashboard has a platform picker that prints the same code for your site, with your key filled in or shown next to it, so copying from there is the safest way.
  • It belongs in a shared place. Put the tag in the template, layout or settings field that every page uses, so no page is forgotten.
  • Once per page. When the same key is on a page twice, the second tag does nothing. If you move the tag from one place to another, remove the old one.
  • No extra code for page changes. On a site that moves between pages without a full reload, the script notices the new address and counts the page.
  • Publish, then look. A tag that is saved but never published sends nothing. After publishing, open your site in a normal browser window. Settings, Installation shows "Receiving data" once the first visit is in.

To see what the tag sends and which of the two scripts it loads, read Add the tracker. If no visit shows up after you publish, troubleshooting lists what to check.
