Events

Counting events

Your allowance is a number of events a month, shared by every site in the workspace.

Counted

  • Every pageview.
  • Every custom event.
  • Every visit to a missing page.
  • One performance report per page load, if you turn Web Vitals on.

Never counted

  • Requests filtered out as bots.
  • Visits you exclude.
  • Funnels, goals and campaigns. They are built from events you already sent.

At the limit

  • At 75 percent of your allowance the usage meter in the sidebar turns amber. No email is sent yet.
  • At 100 percent the dashboards lock until the allowance resets at the start of the month (UTC) or you move up a volume. Collection continues, so nothing is lost, and nothing extra is charged.
  • Collection itself pauses only at a safety ceiling: five times the allowance on a plan, and never more than 12,000,000 events in a month. During a trial it pauses at 500,000 events, whatever volume the trial runs on.

Questions

Every question

Everything asked before signing up, with the answer.

A store plan is priced by the paid orders your stores get in a month, from Starter (up to 1,500 orders a month) to Plus (more than 25,000 orders a month). A website without a store is priced by events instead: you choose one of six volumes, every volume includes every feature, and the allowance is shared by all the sites in the workspace.

Each pageview, each custom event, each visit to a missing page, and one performance report per page load if you turn Web Vitals on. Funnels, goals and campaigns are built from events you already send, so they add nothing, and Shopify orders are not events. Bots and visits you exclude are dropped before anything is counted.

At 75 percent of your allowance the usage meter in the sidebar turns amber, so it should not come as a surprise. No email is sent yet. At 100 percent the dashboards lock until the allowance resets at the start of the next month (UTC) or you switch to a larger volume. Collection carries on while they are locked, so nothing is lost: the numbers are there when the dashboards open again. There are no overage charges. The same rule applies during the trial. Collection itself pauses only at a safety ceiling: five times the allowance on a plan, and never more than 12,000,000 events in a month for any workspace. During a trial it pauses at 500,000 events, whatever volume the trial runs on.

No card. The trial runs for 15 days and its clock starts when your first pageview is recorded, not when you sign up. Time spent installing the snippet costs you nothing. A workspace on trial can hold up to 5 sites.

The dashboard locks until you choose a volume. Collection carries on quietly for 14 more days, so if you choose within that window there is no gap in your charts. After that, collection stops until you pick a volume.

No. On the event volumes for websites without a store, up to 30 sites, 3 years of visit history, funnels, campaigns, web vitals, sharing and team access are included from the smallest volume up, and so is every feature still marked Preview or Coming soon once it is ready. Volumes differ in one way: how many events you can record. Store plans differ: each one lists what it adds to the plan before it.

You can move up or down whenever your traffic changes, from Settings, then Billing. Yearly billing costs ten times the monthly price, which works out to two months free. You can cancel at any time, and your data stays until the retention period ends or you delete it.

Its id, time, total and currency, the first product, how many items it held, and a hash of the random id that links it to a visit. The customer's name, email, phone, addresses and IP address are dropped before anything is stored. With Match sales to ads on, each order also keeps a private customer key: a keyed hash, never the email or customer ID.

On the server, each request is turned into a one-way hash using a secret that is replaced every day. The same browser gets the same hash on the same site for that day, and a different one tomorrow. IP addresses are never stored. The trade-off is deliberate: someone who returns on another day is counted as a new visitor for that day. A site that wants to recognise people who come back can turn on Remember returning visitors, which uses one cookie and is off by default.

Pageviews, custom events, visits and web vitals are kept for 3 years on every tier, then deleted automatically. Orders and refunds are kept for 3 years. If you turn on Remember returning visitors, a visitor's profile is deleted 13 months after their last visit. You can export to CSV at any time, or delete a site and everything recorded for it.
